By simplifying the shape and reworking the door knob in solid black or white marble, the Verum Lui Marmo door handle is left with just one irresistible element: Class.
When Alessandro Stabile first took on the task of reimagining a traditional door knob for Italian door hardware brand Verum, he envisioned a product that could proudly carry its Made In Italy design heritage. First, he reinterpreted the doorknob as a utilitarian object, pleasant to touch but immune to fashion fads — crafting the outstanding Verum Lui modern door knob. Next, he challenged the notion of predominant door hardware materials — Could the sculptural shape of Verum Lui be elevated further? And just like that, Verum Lui Marmo, the first modern door knob from Nero Marquina natural marble, was born.
Part of the Nuda Collection (Naked Collection) by Verum, a unique design portfolio of roseless architectural door hardware, Verum Lui Marmo door knob is the showpiece of minimalist handle design. Being true to its origin as a natural stone, color and veining vary slightly with each piece.
Stabile, a Milan-based industrial designer, reworked the door handle to make its mounting elements invisible, leaving just the shape and material to play the role. While Nero Marquina, with its deep black, became the dominant design choice, Alessandro and Verum also introduced the knob in Carrara white polished marble to accommodate broader design scenarios.
Lui Marmo marble door knob is available for three key applications:
Long celebrated as one of the most unique natural marbles in the world, Nero Marquina marble showcases an intense black canvas with pronounced white contrasting veins. The subtle white veins across the deep black background instantly translate into a sense of understated luxury — so, unsurprisingly, this Spanish marble became a favorite finish for teams designing luxury hotels and for interior designers of high-end homes, where it finds applications such as marble floors, kitchen islands, backsplashes, or fireplaces.
Nero Marquina marble comes from a quarry in Markina-Xemein in the Basque region of northern Spain. It is a high-quality, black bituminous limestone containing naturally occurring bitumen, which gives this marble its characteristic deep black color.
You can find Nero Marquina in iconic buildings, such as the John Paul II Chapel in the Almudena Cathedral, the Empire State Building in New York City, the UN meeting hall, and countless bank lobbies worldwide.
